  • First time out in T-minus 4 days, any last minute advice?

OK folks, my first time out is right around the corner, Tuesday to be exact! My nerves are mixed with an overwhelming excitement! I will be at Heavenly all next week and weekend, I can't wait! If there is any last minute advice anyone can give me, I would certainly appreciate it. I'm confident in my athleticism so I'm sure I'll be ok, but you're never too good for some pointers. I am very excited to get my first taste at skiboarding, so I can get ready for my next trip, with some REAL SBOL gear. I've got my eye on some BWP's...

So, I'm going to give it my all, and keep my fingers crossed that I don't manage to kill myself. If I can pick up snowboarding easily, I think I can handle this. I will be certain to let everyone here know how it goes. I don't know if I'll have web access on my trip, but as soon as I do, I will keep everyone posted.

Thanks a bunch for all the previous help and advice, I already feel like a pro!

    Wish me luck!

Finally the time is here for you to go! cool!
I love wearing those camel water packs, keeps me hydrated all day long and toss some snack in the pouch or in my ski pants pockets.
You'll be fine. Just stayed relaxed, so s couple of deep breaths... and use ipod or whatever you have for music, set up your favorites, turn it up and glide on down the hill! Start on the bunny hill if you need to, no biggie.
Have fun and lets us know how it goes! Glad you'll be there all week since you'll have some snowy cold days!

I've got my iPod all ready to go, just going to do some last minute tweaks to my playlists.

Thanks to all the advice I've gotten here, I really do feel like a pro already. I didn't feel this way before my first snowboarding adventure, and I had done A LOT of homework about that too. I will be thinking of all my new skiboard friends next week while I give it my best, and trying to make the skiboarding community proud! Staying relaxed and calm will be my biggest battle, as I tend to over think things. I'm confident in my ability, just gotta give myself a chance to show it.

I'm SO PUMPED for this vacation, snow, skiboarding, eating lots of food (In N Out Burger on our way out of Reno is a PRIORITY) and just enjoying a week away with my husband. It has been 2 years since we've taken a snow vacation, so we're LONG overdue.

        YAY!

I say dont even worry about the bunnyhill at Heavenly. If you use the main tram up (Not the Casino gondola) You have a bout a 150 yard very lightly sloped run down to the first lift. No need to waste time on the bunny at heavenly Other than that, Heavenly is HUGE! Enjoy the mountain. Definitely make your way over to the Nevada side and take a point and shoot camera!!! Unbelievable sights at the top of the Sky Express Lift!!!

Also remember to edge not "ski" (or slide) the skiboards. Check out the videos one more time.

              Have fun.

BTW: if you are still in the area on Feb 28th, meet up with us at Alpine Meadows.

Pinkkid, no I haven't contacted anyone. I appreciate all the help and suggestion, but my husband and I tend to be "loners" so it'll just be the two of us. I know how willing people are to help noobs on here, but I would hate to ask someone to meet us out there, especially since I think I'll be ok. But again, everyone has been wonderful to me here, I sincerely appreciate it.

Xxxander, I know exactly what trail you're talking about, that's where I learned to snowboard! The trail is called Patsy's, I've been down it more than a few times. I'll probably skate around at the Cal Base area just to get a feel for them. Maybe one bunny hill run, just to make sure I can get on and off the lift without lookin' like a fool! I look forward to many picturesque views, it's supposed to snow almost everyday we're there. Hopefully it won't be too bad and we can get some sunshine too!

Slow, I have watched SO MANY videos, but I will keep watching until I get to the mountain. I don't think I'll have to worry about "skiing" the boards, since I've never really skied! I'll keep telling myself they're rollerblades, and turn with my knees (at least that how I think I do it!) I've been blading since I was about 13, so they're movements are second nature to me. I'm going to bring the boards up to our room so I can step in them and get a feel for them before I hit the snow.

I better get back to packing, I still have some things to tighten up here before we leave Monday!

                Thanks a bunch everyone!
