Not to rush you, but you may not find any better deals that you will this weekend. I would try on boots at your local store then get online and look for Black Friday deals. You could save up to 70%. My Hotrods retailed for just over $500, I got them online for $189 in the sales. Just make sure they have a return policy if you haven't tried them on before. Buying boots blind can be a crap shoot for fit.Just these, nothing else !

Skiboarding promotes a more centered stance with less forward lean leverage, so softer boots with a more upright stance work well. And like I said earlier, these tend to be beginner boots. Most skiers also get their boots to fit as tight as is possible, we can go a little more relaxed as your toes won't pull back as far without the forward lean.

Interesting. I'll see if I can swing by a sports store tomorrow and try a few on. But in regards to modifications, since skiboards have different bindings, it's not quite a step-in like ski bindings. I noticed on some video that you need a modified heel to click into the bindings? I could be wrong though.
And with the receptor bindings, would I be using ski boots or snowboard boots? Or can I use either of them (hardshell snowboard boots?)Riding: RVL8 '15 Rockered Condors

The heel pieces you are referring to are a specialist set up that uses hardboot/Alpine/carving snowboard boots with matching bindings. This is a very rare set up that is not commonly used.
You are looking to buy regular ski boots to use with either non release skiboard bindings, like the Receptors, or regular ski bindings, either on risers or direct fix. No modifications required.
If you get the Revolts with Receptor bindings you just need regular ski boots and you are good to go.Just these, nothing else !

The advice you should be asking for is "Where are the good bootfitters in your area". If you were near me I would send you to my local shop where my wife got her boots. A good bootfitter will not only fit your feet but also your budget.Boards:

New to Skiboarding FAQ - The Basics
Originally posted by Wookie View PostFit is all the matters in hard boots. Everyone has their preferred brand, fit, flex, and forward lean so you'll get a lot of differing advice. The best advice is try them on and work with a good boot fitter to get them right to your foot. You don't have to spend a lot to get the right boots but the worse thing you can do is cheap out and get a pair of boots that "kinda" fit. There are plenty of guys that have a basement full of $50 internet special boots that kinda fit their feet. Having bad fitting skiboots is like hiking all day with a rock in your boot.

Hm. I'm possibly going with skiboots. Bindings are cheaper and I like the security of a harder boot shell

Now I bought at a bootfitter, haven't tried them yet (soon) but they will make adjustments for free, and if the boot still doesn't work will give me credit towards another boot.
Take the advice, don't make the same mistake as I.
