Waxing Skiboards

This is a supplement to the other post above.

Supplies
Waxing Iron
Wax
Scraper (polycarbonate/lexan works best)
3m Scotch Pad (not steel wool)
Cork ( i take wine corks and cut then in 1/2)


ok get your iron to the appropriate temperature so your wax melts easily but doesnt smoke and drip a decent amount of drops onto your boards.

next slowly slide the iron across the boards, I use an " X " Pattern to evenly distribute the wax across the entire base.

Take your scraper and going longways scrape the excess wax off of the boards. You might have alot come off and you might have a little, no big deal.

After you're done scraping, take your scotchbrite pad and scuff the wax until it looks shiny and smooth.

and, optional after that take your cork half and do the same thing.

take a small metal scraper to clean off your edges. And finally,


fasten seatbelts, place tray tables in upright positions, and you are ready for takeoff.

What are you scraping with just a piece of plastic???? and are you only doing the base or do you go all the way to the head and tail??

I'm always told by the shop guys to scrap head to tail or you could ruin the grain...

Its lexan polycarbonate. cut with a bandsaw. I scrape the entire boards yes.

Whats the word on brushes???........alot of shops sell them. Horse hair, and copper/hair brushes, nylon etc.. Are those any good for the boards?

hes rite ,smart kid .but above all know the temp on the day you plan to ride and get the rite wax. you wouldnt you pearls high humidity high temp in vermont in janruary now would you?

what about cork or that synthetic cork??? Is it just super low grain for finisher?

instead of a scotchbrite pad or cork, i use a metal brush and finish off with a softer brush afterwards.
