  • Memorial Day Pow Adventure

On a day when most years it is toasty and hot , and folks are hiking or biking it snowed and snowed a lot in Tahoe . It was cold , light , dry snow like midwinter and it stayed cold all day . Kirkwood reopened for the holiday weekend and there were fresh tracks to be had at the beginning of summer. After a morning spent at the resort . .my son and I headed out to the backcountry near by and climbed and rode some more . It was a dreamlike day ..... in a season of high points.. this was the best ! All video was shot yesterday May 29th 2011 .

notes on the video ... sorry for the shaky videography and video quality ..everthing was done with a hand held digital camera .. .my son did an excellent job at follwing me on his snowboard for the long sequence of me having my best resort powder run of the season ....

    notes on equipment ...
at Kirkwood I rode my 2011 Condor with Rocker bindings and snowboard boots
and my son was on his snowboard ..
in the backcountry I was on my 2010 Condor with telemark boots and custom BTK binding on a receptor base plate .. my son was on original Sherpa prototypes with Fritschi bindings... he is just starting out on skiboards but is super game to try everything in the backcountry on the skiboards and is enjoying not having to carry his snowboard on his back ...

YES!!! I've been waiting for a video from you. Especially since I haven't been able to get out there with you to ride yet. Looks so awesome. I love the flow and style you have. I watch your hands and can tell you're used to poles in the BC. Such fluid movement with your carves. The music really captured the serenity of the riding. I really enjoyed this a lot. Too bad something like this wasn't on here sooner while more people would have the chance to see it. Kudos.

Just a heads up on next Shredfest. Matt Hein will be out of the army, living in Colorado with me, and we will be doing lots of BC. So, since our legs will be all used to it we will, along with Brandon Enouf, be flying out early to get some runs with you before everyone else arrives. Super stoked on that.
    I'm a snollerblader.

    Go big or go home.

yes , I certainly do , Sempai ... but not just for the incredible endless winter we have had this season in Tahoe .. I am also damn lucky to have discovered those magic " powder wings" under my feet ... yes snowboards and fat pow skis are really nice ... but for me it is skiboards that really make this dream come true !
