On a day when most years it is toasty and hot , and folks are hiking or biking it snowed and snowed a lot in Tahoe . It was cold , light , dry snow like midwinter and it stayed cold all day . Kirkwood reopened for the holiday weekend and there were fresh tracks to be had at the beginning of summer. After a morning spent at the resort . .my son and I headed out to the backcountry near by and climbed and rode some more . It was a dreamlike day ..... in a season of high points.. this was the best ! All video was shot yesterday May 29th 2011 .
notes on the video ... sorry for the shaky videography and video quality ..everthing was done with a hand held digital camera .. .my son did an excellent job at follwing me on his snowboard for the long sequence of me having my best resort powder run of the season ....
notes on equipment ...
at Kirkwood I rode my 2011 Condor with Rocker bindings and snowboard boots
and my son was on his snowboard ..
in the backcountry I was on my 2010 Condor with telemark boots and custom BTK binding on a receptor base plate .. my son was on original Sherpa prototypes with Fritschi bindings... he is just starting out on skiboards but is super game to try everything in the backcountry on the skiboards and is enjoying not having to carry his snowboard on his back ...
