Skiboards mounted with backcountry bindings are excellent for accessing wonderful descents as the ski resorts are all closing down.
Two weeks ago my buddy and I climbed Castle Peak in the Tahoe backcountry. For this trip I used Spruce Slingshots with a tech binding on a Spruce riser. The first part of the ascent involved skinning part way up and then as the slope got steeper removing skiboards attaching them to our packs and then climbing straight up the slope with boot crampons.
My buddy took this video of me descending from our high point below the steep wall of Castle peak.
Next trip was a solo trip to Kirkwood for closing week. I was on Condors fitted with backcountry modified Receptor bindings.

From the top of the ridge off Cornice lift I put on climbing skins on my skiboards and climbed up and out of the ski area to the ridge overlooking Thunder Mountain bowl.
Took off skins and dropped the steep backcountry slope.

Then a descending traverse to the low point below the backside of the ridge above the ski area. Transitioned to ski crampons and skiboards on the backpack and climbed out over snow and then dirt to the ridge above the ski area. Then dropped the ungroomed steep slope back into the ski area. Snow is a bit bumpy from sun cups.

Finished up taking the double black diamond Wall lift and descending the steep slopes to the top of the side country Eagle Bowl and then down that bowl back to the ski area.
