Has anyone got any links to video of the Spruce Slingshot? Also, how flexy are the skiboards? What would be the weight limit? Thinking about buying a pair. I would like to use them with snowboard bindings, could I use Burton step-on bindings? The boots are apparently quite stiff.. any comments? Do I need a spruce riser plate for snowboard bindings?

Hi Timbo , The Slingshots are not made to be used with non release snowboard boot bindings. They only have an insert pattern for the Spruce riser ie 4x10 and not 4x4 and the Spruce riser is supplied with release bindings for hardboots and you cannot buy a spruce riser without a release binding . The risers are predrilled with multiple holes for standard release bindings.
The snowboard binding risers sold here on SBOL have only 4x4 insert pattern and so would not fit the Slingshots. I think you are out of luck about putting a snowboard binding on the Slingshots unless you want to make your own riser to fit the 4x10 pattern but generally safetywise I think the SBOL policy of limiting the use of non release bindings including snowboard boot bindings to skiboards 110cm or less makes sense and not having the 4x4 pattern for nonrelease bindings on above 110 cm boards like the Slingshots makes sense.
The Slingshots are not too flexy and I used them and they were fine when I weighed 210 lbs . I weigh 180 lbs now . I don't notice much difference in performance now vs my heavier weight.
Here is a link to a video of me using them in the backcountry. ps . I usually ride all my skiboards with poles but I have ridden them without poles as well and they work well that way , very easy to turn .

Great, next question, what release bindings do you recommend with the spruce riser? Looks like the Slingshot is great in powder, how does the slingshot go on hardpack/ice patches, and do they carve well like the Spruce Sherpa?

Hi Timbo , the Slingshot is a fantastic resort board that does very well on hardpack and ice. I ride the board from the center mount position and because it is an assymetric board with a wide rockered tip and a flat tail I do not have to set the board back for powder . It works well from that position both in hardpack and in powder. I also have the Sherpa and I like the Slingshot better overall because it is much more manueverable and more fun for me being a smaller board. For me it carves just as well or better than the Sherpa in hardpack or ice.

If you had standard downhill alpine boots with standard soles I would recommend this binding riser set up

If you have ski boots that have grip walk soles which allow better walking on snow then I would recommend the more expensive version. ps . I have never needed din settings beyond 10 so the difference in the 10 max din setting in the cheaper setup vs the 14 set up in the more expensive version doesn't matter to me .

Let me know if you have other questions.
