KTPs are my regular. I usually have the bindings centered. I recently tried them one notch back and didn’t like the “back seat driver” feeling over the center position. My riding style is usually fast and aggressive carving. I now have Blunt XLs for the purpose of riding powder and am about to try them for the first time after a snow dump. Should I use the center notches or have the bindings set back? I’m wondering if I can maintain the center feeling I enjoy and the XL’s rocker will give me plenty of float in powder, or if setting the bindings back will make a drastic improvement in riding powder. I know of course I should just try it out for myself and see what I prefer, which I will. But I also only have 2 days left in Colorado before heading back home so any wisdom to give me a starting point would be appreciated. Thanks in advance.

How do you set your blunt XLs?

I'm 220lbs and I've never had the need to ride the BluntXL set back. The zero camber, rocker and flex float me so well I've never even had to consider it. I think leg strength may play a factor though. I'm not a triathlete but I do play a lot of basketball, but, I'm 51, so there's that.

I'm 300 and i've only ridden the XL's centered as Greco has stated above. I know some others that swear by riding them set back. I would recommend taking the same run a few times interchanging the setting. One run set back, one run centered. There really is no one way when it comes to riding, you just have to try all different options and see what works for you. The beauty about the Receptor bindings is the micro adjustments. You don't have to go completely set back, you can adjust the bindings using the center holes and vise versa. Find your groove, but no matter what you do, enjoy the rest of your trip. I have included the link to one of Talon's videos where he actually is switching from the KTP's to the XL's and he discusses binding mounting and location. Make sure to check out his videos, they are a great resource for a lot of skiboarding info. And you can spot Greco in them every once in a while (drinking game... spot him, take a shot)

I would say it also depends on your powder skills. I loved the XLs on soft groomers, but my powder skills were bad when I first tried them centered in like 20cm of fresh and I was struggling a lot, so switched quickly to a different board that day. This year I tried the KTPs setback in about 30cm of fresh powder (like you I keep them center on hardpack ) and they worked great. But the major difference was that I've also changed my technique, in off season I've figured out how I should ride skiboards in powder - after watching lots of video posted from the forum. This year I didn't get the chance to try the XLs setback because my daughter "stole" them from me, she was riding center and having a blast.
My first choice now would be to try them setback, but post back and let us know how it went for you.Myself: RVL8 2011 KTP, Spruce 125 LE, RVL8 "Drooling Clouds" RCs, Spruce 2016 Osprey
Daughter: Twoowt Pirania 95cm; RVL8 2015 Blunt XL; RVL8 2021 SII; Spruce Crossbows
Past: RVL8 2010 Revolt Trees, RVL8 2014 Condor, RVL8 2009 ALPdors, Spruce 120 Yellow/Red

Thanks for all the responses! I took the Blunt XLs out for one day of fresh powder. The day after, a lot of the terrain was pretty skied out. I only got to try the XLs with bindings centered, but I think they performed really well in the powder and I had a blast. Like Greco, I didn’t feel the need to set them back, but given the opportunity I’d give it a try in the future just to see. But for now my season is over and I’m back on the east coast.
