I got to day #7 for this season. Lots of knuckle dragging on the slopes, just because I can.

It was a Crossbows day. I enjoyed riding them, but I do think the Slingshots are still my preferred board.

Tomorrow is another ski day. I'll stick to Crossbows for that too. Still have no appetite for Ospreys atm.

The smaller freeride area in Arcalis has opened. It is is served by a small surface lift. When the snow is soft, it is a great play area.

After exiting I tend to drop down another steep section. Never groomed, it can be a joy in soft snow, but very technical when the snow compacts

Shot some footage coming down the Portella d'Arcalis. The snow conditions were tough - definitely hard and very uneven. Lots of evidence of freeze-thaw. The Crossbows did really well, but the video shows just how much they were lifting up and bumping around.

Took the new backcountry rig for an initial test drive today. These are Summit Invertigos directly mounted with Fritschi Tecton touring bindings

                  What was good:
                  • Definitely feels lighter than anything I used before (except touring skis with minimalist pin bindings)
                  • Downhill was great, but as it was a return on-piste, I cannot say how well it will deal with varied terrain over a long period of time (next test). Defintely felt much better than narrow touring skis.

                  What was bad:
                  • Switching from walk to ski mode is a pain. One has to be careful pushing the heel down to get the heel piece engaged.
                  • The top heel lift position, really required two poles to get done hands-free. one pole to pull it a bit frward and then the point of the second to flip it into position.
                  Observations:
                  • Heel lifters might be needed earlier than with a touring ski - I did go to max at some point.
                  • Poles are needed to step into the bindings - not as simple as with normal Tyrolia Attack bindings used for downhill.
                  • Definitely felt more comfortable with the Invertogos than last season. I am not sure whether the direct

Awesome update! Been looking forward to it! Tested my Invertigo's with Shift bindings 2 days ago, I felt like my lightweight (1.2kg) boot is going to be the challenge to get used to. Didn't mind that it's semi complicated to transition from up to down, I'm never going to get to the top of the hill and RACE to transition to immediately go right down. Instead, I'll take a few minutes, smoke a bowl, vape some nicotine, enjoy the view, first. One day in a few years I might be doing what you do, very impressive, and very motivational, man.

Would love to, I'll have to see work-wise if I'll manage to take some days off in March (sometime outside of school holidays), as Jan-Feb most likely will be very busy

Probably a better shot of descent on the Summit Invertigos. There are a lot of turns on this descent and I find that pushing the inside skiboard forward deals better with the turns.

Out for a walk on the Invertigos this morning. Conditions were icy. Did not use crampons, but it seems with the Tecton bindings that one should use the heel lifters earlier on steeper, icy sections in order to get better purchase. My right leg slipped back twice on the middle position.

So Schalk, what's your final determination? Are the Invertigo's your favorite AT skiboards? Or will you switch back to the slingshots?
