Heavenly Observation Deck Webcam Demise

The Heavenly Observation Deck Webcam stopped working last year and they even eliminated it from their website.

Do any of you Tahoeites, Tahoetians or any sundry Sierra Dweller happen to have the inside-baseball story of what happened to the Observation Deck webcam? I really enjoyed that cam, the way it could instantly transport me back there.
