  • Newbie in South Korea

As the thread says I just started skiboarding about 2 weeks ago here in South Korea. Originally I am from Virginia and grew up skiing in West Virginia. Anyway, I made the switch to skiboards but there is really nothing to choose from here and had to settle for some 99cm Élan Vario's. They ride great but I look forward to ordering some Revel8's when I am back in the US next season.

Got some pictures and video from Yongpyong Ski Resort that I will post soon.

Just thought I would introduce myself to the forum.

Welcome alnewt1234 to SBOL! I visited Pusan (now Busan) in the mid 70's, a very interesting place. Some of the food is still etched in my memory.

I would have thought it would be easy to get hold of Bluemorris skiboards in Korea.

Nope, nothing. I found the Elan's in 3 different shops after spending 2 weeks searching. I also have only seen 2 or 3 other skiboarders at the places I have gone. Every time I asked in the shops they all looked at me like I was crazy. They will catch on eventually.

Are the import taxes in Korea still crazy? I sold my Canon SLR there on the black market for way more than I paid for it and they were very happy to get it at that price because the taxes were so high at that time. So, I was wondering if that same thing could be influencing the availability of skiboards?

Finding proper skiboards in stores is about impossible no matter where you are. But online is a different story - http://www.revel8.co.kr/

this link should work to a video a friend made. The first half was taken at a resort in Korea called Alpensia, then his SBX video is from Hyundai Sungwoo.
