I went ahead and bought the GoPro Hero3 Black edition...I got an extra battery, and 2 x 32GB microSD cards. I hope that's enough! My first skiboarding experience will either be awesome for me, or awesome for everyone that gets to watch the videos =P

Day 1 is finished here at Abasin. I hope you guys are ready for clips of me falling on my face....My first run on skiboards ever and my first time on a mountain ever, we took the wrong lift and ended up on a blue run...Needless to say there is a lot of me flailing down the side of a mountain. SUPER SORE. Hope I have enough in me tomorrow to go again.

Hey everyone, been a long absence since last year, but I'm heading out again for a couple days in March out to Loveland and this time I'm flying into Denver rather than driving.

Does anyone have a recommendation for skiboard air travel? I'm afraid my boards will be devastated by shotty baggage workers. Links to bags or containers or suggestions to maybe ship them? The boards are 100s.

            Thanks!

I use the Revel8 Monkey skiboard bag to transport my boards when I travel by air. I take the bindings off, slide the boards down the legs of my snow pants, and then pack other clothes around them in the bag. So far, I've had no issues with damage.
RVL8 Condors - The Flex will be with me, always...until I break them

Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a pretty and well-preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, thoroughly used up, totally worn out, and loudly proclaiming... "WOW! WHAT A RIDE!!"

We like the convenience of shipping our bulky gear ahead of time, and have used this service with good results: luggageforward.com

The trick is coordinating with the resort you're staying at and allowing ample shipping time (slower shipping times are less costly).

Thanks for the bag suggestions! One more quick question. Does anyone have a recommendation for a pole to use for a GoPro?

I like the POV Pole 36" GoPro Edition ---> http://www.amazon.com/Gadgets-POV-Po.../dp/B00CKPCJNO

I have been using it all season without issues. Some things I like about it is that is has a nice wrist strap that is firmly attached to the pole, it is lighter than the GoPole, and it collapses to about 11.5" since it is a four section extension pole which is unusual. The four sections make it smaller collapsed allowing it to fit in a backpack. I will even slide it into the thigh pocket of my cargo ski pants with the camera on it and it only sticks out a few inches. The only word of caution with this and most telescoping poles is I doubt it would take a hard fall and not bend.

For a more rugged pole I just used the GoPro handlebar mount and attached it to a piece of PVC cut to the length I wanted and then taped the other end like a hockey stick handle. This is a great low budget solution. I got an off brand handlebar mount on Amazon for $4 and the PVC, tape, etc. was just stuff I had around the house. If you skiboard with poles you can also just use a handlebar mount on a ski pole.
