No, but to be fair, I have no problem with hard shell boots and would not want to give up ANY level of control.

Valmorel made the soft boot risers for me to try. In the end, I had to agree with him. I bought some better, more comfortable, hard shell boots and the best release bindings readily available (see my signature) but it was an interesting experiment and I thank valmorel for his help.

Just need to track down set of risers now. I assume spruce still don't sell them separately?
OK, Gromit and I can make Xscape Sunday 15 th November, morning. Meet in Wetherspoons for breakfast around 8, start skiing around 9.30, leave around 12.30 if that works for you. Will bring boards and bindings. If you give me your boot size I can drop a Riser on the Condors so you can give then a run.

You could give valmorel, the sole length of your ski boots, if you prefer beeby11. It'll be moulded into the side of the heels of the boots.
Sorry for the delay, been quite hectic. I am actually going to look at some new boots this weekend, as from what i have been reading skiboards seem to be better with a slightly flexier boot?
If i don't end up getting any i will bring my old pair with are a 29.5.

I generally ski with my girlfriends who boards and the poles come in handy for dragging her along the flats, as i can skate fairly well on the short skis. I tend to only use the poles for comfort on steeper runs and really don't use them to their full potential.
This has always been a hot debate. Put simply, skiboards allow you to ditch the poles of you wish, but don't make a crusade of it and spoil your day. I think most of us are pole free

Some excellent info here, just to add as I've been buying from Greco in the states for several years it's worth spending the extra on Rvl8 with taxes etc imo as they will last and have the flexibility and interchangeability of bindings. Although I've never had or tried summits for obvious reasons hinted at throughout the forum, I do have some old Snowjam boards that are fine but not a patch on my Rvl8s.
Obviously the EU dealer popped up a while ago and I just haven't had a reason to buy from them yet, but a good alternative if they have what you're after.

I guess now is the time to ditch the poles ?
You seemed to be getting on fine this morning on the Condors without ski poles.
I had an idea on how you could tow your girlfriend, on her snowboard, along when you are on the flats. Buy a sling whose circumference is about equal (or maybe a bit longer?) to the length of two ski poles, from a rock climbing gear shop. When you reach a flat spot, you could tow her along with the sling.
Can't believe i missed this, there have been some discussions and since christmas she has been learning to waddle in the lounge. So hopefully my poles wont be needed
If anyone else has any old gear they would like to sell I'm looking to buy my first proper pair of skiboards. I've been using an old battered pair of Salomon snowblades for the last few years. After trying some skiboards on a skiing holiday last year I just can't go back to the Salomon's.
