Looking forward to seeing you again Noties and Grant and Ysb33r and Tom and everyone else who can make it to Shredfest 2022!
Kirkwood was undamaged from the fires and should operate normally as will Heavenly and Northstar. Sierra did sustain some damage and it is uncertain what the winter season will be like there. If Sierra is unable to open normally by the time of Shredfest 2022 we will most likely do two days at Heavenly instead . Looking forward to seeing everyone . We were really lucky that the fire did not do more damage to the South Lake Tahoe area and the ski areas around tahoe!
Here is the latest info from Sierra at Tahoe as of today.

"Since we shared our last update, we have been busy bringing experts to Sierra to evaluate and help us outline our plans to open the resort safely, and as soon as possible. Engineers, arborists, and representatives from the United States Forest Service have begun the detailed inspections necessary in this effort.
What we now know is that there is more damage to the resort than was initially thought. A significant number of trees were weakened by the fire, some of our chairlifts have sustained damage, and other infrastructure requires repair. Already, a tremendous amount of work has been done along Sierra-at-Tahoe Road to remove fire weakened trees, and engineers are making progress in the effort to repair affected lifts.
As we look ahead, there’s still work to be done on the mountain to remove fire weakened trees on trails and along chairlift lines, and we’re working in partnership with the USFS to do that. As we learn more about timelines related to the repairs that are in progress, fire damaged tree remediation, and what our operations may look like this winter, we will continue to keep you informed.
It is also important to know that the USFS forest closure order issued yesterday does not mean Sierra was closed for the season, rather the fire boundary is currently not safe for recreation and when there is adequate precipitation on the ground, they will issue a new order.
We also want you to be confident in knowing that our goals remain the same: to put our employees back to work, to give you the high-quality ski and snowboard experience you’re accustomed to, and to adapt and persevere as we always have. The Sierra-at-Tahoe spirit is alive and well!
Thank you for your continued support and positivity."

Many share houses, and us others find the stateline casinos as a reasonable value. They also have food and entertainment built in.

It's a PITA to rent a car at Reno Airport it seems. $1500 for a week ???

We might just have to stick with the bus transfer again.

Rental car prices have gone sky high in the US since everything has opened back up.

I've stayed several times at what's now called the Lake Tahoe Resort Hotel. I think it used to be a 4 Seasons Hotel. It's right on the California side of the state line where the casinos start on the other side of the street in Nevada. They have a great breakfast bar, an easy walk to the Heavenly gondola and a really nice pool/hot tub area. I think there's a new Hell's Kitchen restaurant catty-corner from it and a Hard Rock Cafe a block away. From there I've walked to see some great bands like The Fabulous Thunderbirds and Starset.

                          Really? I'm seeing mostly $600-$700. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Update: got a car through Budget for about $550

Here's something fun. If you don't already have it, install a copy of Google Earth Pro from here https://www.google.com/earth/about/versions/
You can really zoom in and see the resort lifts and runs from satellite pics. SBOL wouldn't let me upload my Lake Tahoe Resorts file with all the resorts marked. So make your own and you can visually fly from one to the other.
