I like that we stay , for the most part, in one section of Tahoe.
All though I don’t see a use for my iKon I can use it in the pre day on Monday before and maybe Saturday and Sunday in mammoth

If I can work out something to make it it this year, is Reno still the best airport option, or somewhere else?

Sacramento is also an option but further away. San Francisco is another option but further still. You could fly early into San Francisco and spend a few days in one of the best cities in the USA

I remember Reno having a bus that drops people at different accommodations - not sure it was only North Tahoe though. That could mitigate having to rent a vehicle.

Also I sort of have to plan whether going to the Colorado meet or ShredFest will be better in term of timing. Overall though, I suspect the one that most people I know on here goes to, might just be the decisive factor.

                    More questions:

                    - Are all of the resorts covered by a single pass that one can purchase ahead of time?

                    - Where are people planning to stay?

                    - Is there a shuttle back to SFO from there? Maybe I can fly into Reno and out of SFO.

Hi ysb33r , would be wonderful to see you again! hope you can make it to Shredfest.
                      Here is some info
                      Tickets:
All resorts are covered by the Epic Season Pass or Epic Day Pass product ( multi day discounted tickets ) unfortunately neither of these products are now available for this season . They are sold preseason and early season and go off sale in Dec.
But many of us going to Shredfest have Buddy passes on our Season passes. If you tell me you are coming I will save three buddy pass tickets for you . You will then need to go with me to the ticket window and get a discounted lift ticket. The price for your special tickets will be 111 dollars at Northstar, 101 dollars at Heavenly and 77 dollars at Kirkwood whiich are sharply discounted from the window rate which can be as high as 170 dollars . Pre shredfest we are skiing at Sierra at tahoe on Feb 24th Monday, the window rate is 111 , but if you buy in advance now the rate is 63 dollars which is sharply discounted. https://www.sierraattahoe.com/lift-tickets/

                      Accomodations:
We are all staying in South Lake Tahoe . There are a variety of accomodations from very budget to expensive . Make sure you stay at an accomodation that has a shuttle stop near by to take you to the California Base lodge of Heavenly. There is a shuttle transfer station right near the casinos and the Heavenly Gondola station in the center of South Lake Tahoe , if you do not have a car you can just walk from your hotel to that transfer station and take the shuttle to the California base lodge where we are meeting. We are NOT meeting at the Gondola .
https://assets.vailresorts.com/-/med...07Mar2019.ashx You will want lodging near the yellow route terminal at Heavenly village , there are a lot of accomodations within walking distance . A few choices which I recommend are Holiday Inn Express. Hotel Beckett, or if you don't mind casinos. Harrahs Casino which has very nice rooms for very low rates while we are there. For the best value for the quality of room this is a very good deal .
                      https://www.caesars.com/book/payment...urce=googlehpa
We are driving to Northstar and to Kirkwood on subsequent days of Shredfest
And I am sure that you can find a ride with one of us to the other ski resorts if you do not have a car .

                      Getting to South Lake Tahoe
There is no shuttle from SFO to South Lake Tahoe .
The best way to get to South Lake Tahoe from SFO would be to fly from SFO to reno and then take a shuttle to and from reno to South Lake Tahoe .
The shuttle from Reno to South Lake Tahoe goes to the casinos . In fact staying at one of the casinos , The closest to the Heavenly shuttle station would be Harrahs casino. which has cheap weekday rates .

                      http://southtahoeairporter.com/
                      https://www.caesars.com/book/payment...urce=googlehpa

The alternative would be to rent a car at SFO and drive to South Lake Tahoe which is 3 hours and 45 min in good weather .

Let me know if you or others have additional questions !

ps . I found some more information about shuttles from South Lake Tahoe to the other ski resorts we are going to .
If there are enough folks who want to take shuttles rather then drive we could change the resort schedule and meet up times to accomodate folks travelling by shuttle . This is a nice option and avoids folks driving or finding rides with those driving . The Vail sponsored shuttle goes from South Lake Tahoe to Northstar on Tuesdays only and to Kirkwood on Wednesdays and costs 40 dollar round trip. . We would change meet up time to 1000am on those days to accomodate the later
arrival of the shuttle at those resorts which would likely be around 930am.. If we use shuttles the resort schedule would be Sierra at Tahoe on Monday , Northstar on Tuesday, Kirkwood on Wednesday and Heavenly on Thursday . The later meet time at Northstar and Kirkwood would also allow those driving to leave later from South Lake Tahoe and not get up so early .
                        http://www.demotours.com/?page_id=32

there is also a free daily shuttle from the Stateline transfer center at the casinos and also other stops in south lake tahoe to Sierra at tahoe.
                        https://www.sierraattahoe.com/south-shore-shuttle/

Let me know what folks think . If we change the schedule this way . Folks could fly to Reno and travel to south lake tahoe casino area by shuttle and go to all resorts by shuttle without renting a car . You could take uber or lyft to the meet and greet and either uber or lyft or bus to the good bye dinner as well which will be close by to the Souith Lake Tahoe casino area .

Is there any backcountry riding this time? I can only bring one set of equipment, so I have to choose between Ospreys with backcountry rig and boots OR the sporty Slinghots with normal alpine boots.

My wife is probably coming along. She is not a skier, so I was wondering what there is to do around Tahoe for her besides utilising the local spa.

                            Hi Ysb33r,
If there is not a lot of folks interested in van shuttles to resorts, we will most likely just carpool to resorts and leave the current schedule as is . Yes I like the company also !
I think my van will be full but I am sure you will be able to find a ride with one of the other participants. We can set up carpools here on the forum after people let us know where they are staying and who needs a ride.
No backcountry riding , all resort riding this Shredfest.
I would recommend the sporty Slingshots with your regular boots. I am really impressed that those boards will be able to handle all the kinds of conditions that Tahoe can throw at you and be more fun and sporty then the Ospreys.
South Lake Tahoe is probably the best place in Tahoe to be for a non skier . Lots of activities, including big name night time entertainment at the casinos although staying up late after a day of hard skiing might be tough for you ! The center of non skier activities in South Lake Tahoe would be Heavenly Village /Main Casino area at Stateline.
Here is a link to non skier activities in winter in Tahoe. Besides what is listed here there is nice shopping and gallery browsing in the Heavenly Village area near the Casinos. Plenty of nice restaurants and bars also . There is a movie theater right there also in the Heavenly Village area playing all the latest movies throughout the day.
