The snow keeps piling up for Shredfest. Check out these 5-day totals. jjue and I had an amazing powder day in the trees at Northstar today.

Squaw has received over 13 feet of new snow in January so far. Some residents decided to go house hucking.

It's been a crazy 48 hours! Right now the power is out in all of North Tahoe (Truckee) area.

Shredfest 2017 - South Lake Tahoe

They actually closed three resorts here in Colorado. 83" as of yesterday from this storm and at least another foot today.

They are saying another 30" before Friday.

Hope they are open by Saturday because I need to go play in the powder!

It's insane! We started off the season very slowly getting hardly any snow. Now we are getting nuked to death. The resorts can't even open because of all the snow and wind. Sunday night they recorded winds as high as 175 mph on the mountain tops. It is scary windy here in Reno today.

I stayed at Harrah's when I came to Shredfest 5 years ago (?) and it was a nice place, big room and the price was great. Have not been there since so do not know the state of the property. Very convenient to everything too. Parking garage was nice too.

It's still nice. Fred and his wife have booked a room there. His wife is not a skier. She'll be trying to win money while we are on the slopes. Anyone staying there should get together with him to carpool to the resorts. I'm sure he will appreciate the company.

Anyone have any recommendations on where to stay during SF? South Tahoe? Truckee? Reno? Cost is my first priority, then proximity. Well, clean/safe might figure in between cost and proximity.
