Got my first day riding in this season up at Bohemia during the opening weekend! Finally! we had quite the warm up after the initial snow we got in November but things have bounced back quite nicely considering its early season. A healthy start of der on the 2nd chair/bus runs/haunted and some hard packed icey patches here and there on the face runs..very fast conditions and some divets and massive crazy moguls on some of the wooded paths too. Pluto was a bit of a mess, and I put a couple fresh scratches on my dlps here and there. January is looking to be a snowy lake effect goodness month...so things should be amazing as always. These early conditions really/being unconditioned really brought out the Bohemia Burn... Owww.

Time for reminders! I’ll post this again a few days before we travel. I've also added it to the bottom of the first post for easy access. If you don’t have any of these things, now is the time to get them.
If you're car pooling with several people, please don't bring everything you own
Things you need to bring to Bohemia (or you’re gonna have a bad time)
General:
- A credit / debit card (cash is not accepted at Bohemia)
- Printed confirmation of buying your season pass (just in case you're not on their list)
- An ID to prove who you are
- Sleeping bag (or a few blankets)
- Pillow
- Towel (someone always forgets this)
- Soap, shampoo, deodorant
- Printed directions to get to Bohemia (your GPS is probably going to bring you someplace other than Mount Bohemia)
- Health insurance cards (not a bad idea to carry these on you while riding, just in case)
Riding:
- Skiboards (bring an extra set if possible)
- Bindings
- Boots
- Leashes
- Helmet (we don’t want you to die)
- Goggles
- Jacket
- Snow pants
- Layers (the more the better)
- Gloves / mittens
- Ski socks
- Something to cover your face
Things you might want to bring to Bohemia (but probably wouldn’t die without)
- Hand warmers / foot warmers if you get cold when it's cold (sometimes these are hard to find in Houghton, depending on how cold it's been)
- Camera, GoPro, etc
- Chargers for your devices
- Boots to carry stuff through deep snow in (to get to the yurt)
- Food, beverages, snacks
- Extra outerwear in case you get really wet or something
- Wax, iron, etc (I'll bring mine, usually a few other people do too)
- A backpack to carry stuff on the hill (if you're into that)
Pro Tips:
- Don't go in the ditch (you're going to be in the middle of nowhere)
- Don't lose your wallet or car keys (this has happened)
- Wax your boards before the trip
- Cellphones don't typically work very well at Bohemia, so be prepared for that
- If you'd like a copy of footage shot from various cameras, bring an external hard drive (ideally something Mac or FAT32 formatted)
- The wifi sucks at best, get your Netflix bingeing done before you come

I'm thinking of driving on Thursday and spending the night in one of the hotels in Houghton like most of you do to get an early start on Friday morning. Which hotel(s) do you guys usually stay in and if anyone wants to share a room "no creepy business unless it's Jack Schmid :P" I have no problem.
By the way if anyone wants to car pool from Detroit area I still got an open seat in my car.Boards:

Super 8 and Holiday Inn in Houghton are both good options. Super 8 tends to be a bit cheaper.
The TravelLodge is a bit cramped, drafty and doesn't have much parking.
My carpool will probably go for the Super 8. We'll have 3 so if you want to split room costs we can make sure everyone has their own bed for a solid night sleep.
