4 ski clubs from my area get together and do a common trip each year (in addition to the other club trips). This year we'll be in SLT Feb 7-14. A couple years ago I missed Shredfest by 2 weeks.

I have a terrible sense of timing. This reminds me of back in the 70's I lived in all 4 corners of the U.S. and each time I moved I missed seeing Jethro Tull in concert by about 2 weeks. I'm still heart broken over missing Tull and Shredfest.

For those who may have never heard of Jethro Tull, let me introduce you.

What he's really known for is making a flute talk, check this one out.

Guess I need to investigate travel(health) insurance LOL. Never bought in to J T. Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits) is more my thing.

Just found out that my group will be staying at the www.tahoeresorthotel.com . That place is awesome with out-of-this-world over-the-top breakfasts and two hour open bar apri ski happy hours. They do limit you to only getting 2 drinks at a time of beer, wine or liquor. I've stayed there before and loved being right across the side street from the casino. We saw The Fabulous Thunderbirds there last time. man, I'm pumped, sign me up.

I want to make it out this time but a little confused....lost...and need to figure out a budget lol

I think the closet airport to fly into is Reno (Coming from Canada)? Is that correct? And if so, would I just take a bus down to the resort?

Yes, Reno is a good choice to fly into. I don't know if there's any municipal mass transit type bus routes from the airport to Tahoe, it's a fairly long ride. I've taken shuttle buses directly to the lodge. If you know where you're going to stay ask them what shuttle service they use/recommend.

Or, you could rent a car.

I was working out a budget too to see if this fit into my finances this year and found this from Heavenly's website for shuttle service:

                  http://www.southtahoeexpress.com/

The whole listing on their webpage seemed to be a go resource for travel to the area:

Ian Andersen going into a new York radio station (WNEW 102.7 when it rocked) passes a homeless person outside the building.
Homeless man say to Ian,, "hey, I'm aqualung!" Anderson replies, "its' just a song, get over it!" I had liked them before I heard that, loved them after that.

Now it all depends if I get into a course or not, if I do than I can't go as it's mid-term week. If not, than there's a chance. But I won't know till December when registration is...

                        Bah.

Here is a map of where the fire is , it is burning in a forested area , and lightly populated mostly wilderness area between highway 50's and 80's , it is only 18% contained and a large fire.. the direction of the fire is toward Alpine Meadows and Squaw Valley Ski area but so far not threatening those ski areas... lots of smoke in Tahoe , particularly in Truckee ..... (olympic valley is where Squaw is )
