All scheduled chairs are currently on SNOW SAFETY HOLDS.
With the continuing heavy snow, mitigation efforts are expected to take much of the morning.
Scheduled chairs have an ETO of 1PM- AS ALWAYS THIS IS SUBJECT TO CHANGE

Always check ski area sites and webcams - -also the above from the Kirkwood Twitter Page this morning --- and CalTrans has 88 closed this morning East of Kirkwood - -no travel back to South Lake Tahoe. Be Safe Out There SkiBoarders!!

was on Big Foots, Cannons, Klimax Redline, 98 Line MNPs, Line ff cam and bomber bindings - new boards: RVL8 2015 SII, 2011 KTP --24 yrs non released - -skiboarding til 2050!!

So I am working on getting a big room at a Casino/hotel for a meetup on Monday night. Would anyone be interested in coming to that. It’s not a house but it will be a private room we can have for a few hours.
              Let me know your thoughts

Long range forecasts are for cold weather before Shredfest keeping the snow in good condition but not any big storms through the end of the month. Of course , all that could change this far out from Shredfest. I think you will be fine with Crossbows and Slingshots which should be perfect for conditions when you are here. Depth of snow is the deepest we have had in years and the snow should last through Shredfest so coverage over all the mountains should be excellent.

I have posted this as a new topic and also under Events for 2023 --and again here --
I use Semi-Accuweather and the Kirkwood website to figure out the weather in the Tahoe area - -I recommend that attendees click the button on Kirkwood, under >The Mountain, Snow and Weather Report and then also click on Road Conditions - Learn More --- that will open a new tab to the Caltrans site. Roads can close in the Tahoe area --and chains are required to be carried in R-2 conditions. The map will show the main arteries I-80, Hwy 50, with cameras and Hwys 88, 89 to Kirkwood.
Now my 10 day forecast on Semi-A says 70% chance of snow on Tuesday, Feb 21, Kirkwood says Heavy Snow (12-18 in.) . Again Semi - A says snow Thursday, Feb 23 at 70% then clearing for the weekend drive up, Feb 25,26 and Day 1 Monday, Feb 27 at Heavenly. I check these daily in about 5-10 minutes.
-- Then 70% chance of snow on Tuesday and Wednesday, Feb. 28 and Mar. 1. Clearing again on Thursday Mar 2. Temps look to be frigid in the mid 20s highs and lows in the teens. So dress warm, travel safe and look for some new white stuff.
While on the Kirkwood site, under >The Mountain, check the Webcams and the Lift and Terrain Status --where they have a Twitter feed of chairs open or closed - -If the Wall, Chair 10 and the Backside, Chairs 2,3,4 are open - that is a good sign that the wind is not closing those lifts and the sun has warmed up the back terrain. I use the Mt. Ashland site for weather on the mountain just north of the California border and the furthest west ski mountain as a leading indicator of storms and then Kirkwood, finally Mountain High in SoCal to be a novice meteorologist. I have spun a 540 on the road to Grand Targhee, been trapped in Truckee both ways in April, long before these helpful sites to determine road conditions, weather and lift availability.
See you all at 9 a.m. Feb 27, at the California Lodge Ticket Booths for Shredfest 2023!!!

I'll be there this year! Plans fell through last year so I couldn't make it. But I've got a new (reliable) vehicle and already booked my room! See you all there.

If anyone has some buddy passes I could bum off ya that would be great!

                          Shredfest
For best visual access, download the EpicMix app , and favor the resorts we are going to…

Monday and Tuesday is at Heavenly ,we meet at the California side parking area. Lifts start at 9AM We gather near the ticket window Near the gun barrel lift. Be ready when the lifts start. If you need ticket get there a little earlier. If your late we will be doing a couple laps @ The Canyon lift, see the maps on the app.
Wednesday is at Northstar. Suggested time for arrival is 830. That helps with good parking and the little walk to the gondola . Parking can be found by following the signs after you turn left of the main highway
We will gather by the ice rink in the center of the resort buildings ,and then head to the gondola.
If your late, head up the gondola and to the right are 2 lifts. Look for others that will be doing laps.
The RVL8 team will be doing laps in the park, and filming. That is the lift to the left.
After skiing at Northstar a group of us will be heading to Reno for In N Out and will be rollerskating at the local rink. Bring a change of clothes to skate in. Come skate with Rachel (the derby player) and a few of the team riders. Last year was the first time and I believe we had fun?

Thursday is Kirkwood it’s a little bit of a drive into the canyons in South Lake. Parking by the mountain Village. First lift is at 9AM. If your late groups will be hitting 5&6 for some warmup laps.
This being the last day we always seem to get another group photo in

I’m not sure yet on a final dinner in the evening. Many times we have Pizza Hut to end the Fest. We shall see if that happens again.

Carson Pass opened but Spur is still closed. Lifts still shut down at KW. Interesting, Heavenly has 26 lifts running, and Cal Lodge parking is full. Comet and Dipper are on wind hold. Heavenly is predicting 1-3 inches today and the heaviest dump of 9-18 inches Friday all day and into the night. They see light snow 1-3 inches Saturday and Sunday with no snow Monday on. Temps are frigid - - 6 degrees now warming to 10 - -highest will be 24 during the week, Bring your warmest thermals. It will be a "cold is wet...wet is cold" Shredfest 2023. Finally rain in SoCal in the last hour.
