    WESTFEST 2018

    The dates for Westfest 2018 are;

Now SIX days of the greatest snow on earth:

    Wednesday January 24th 2018 @ Park City/The Canyons
    Thursday January 25th 2018 @ Snowbird

    Mark your calendars.

Westfest, now in it's fifth year, is a multi day skiboarding festival based around the Big and Little Cottonwood resorts in Utah. This year it has been expanded to six days, with two days of pre-fest riding at Park City/The Canyons. The Sandy/Midvale area provides great lodging options with easy access to the Cottonwoods, as well as the Park City resorts, Snowbasin, Powder Mountain and Brianhead. The dates and resorts are now confirmed, so go ahead and book your travel, accommodations and passes. Tired of the East Coast Ice? Come join us in the powder!

      Lift Tickets

There are many deals out there for tickets this season. Many of the popular season passes, Like Epic and the Mountain Collective already provide free, or discounted days at some of the resorts. With the SuperPass going up to $368 this year, it looks like it may be less expensive to use Liftopia and resort discounts. The conversation for this subject can be found in this link.

      Westfest, Shredfest And Ski Passes

The Ski Salt Lake site offers a four day Superpass to the four resorts, for four days, for $368!. It also includes free transportation on the Salt lake Ski Bus, Trax System and City Buses. The Ski Bus savings total $38 making the average ticket price $92. The pass is very flexible and allows you to ski any resort on any day, great for powder chasing. It is good for the whole 2017/18 season but has to be used within fourteen days of activation.

Alternatively tickets are available on Liftopia

Please note that these tickets do not include the Ski Bus cost and are non refundable. They are only good for the dates purchased and the resorts they are issued for, unless you pay extra.

      Transportation

Salt lake City International Airport is serviced by all the major airlines with many direct flights. Southwest Airlines offers some great deals into Salt lake. They also allow two free bags. For example flights from Phoenix cost $144, round trip with two free bags.

There is a an airport shuttle that runs to most of the hotels and the City has an extensive Trax (light rail) and bus system.

The City also had a Ski Bus that services the four resorts from downton Salt Lake, Midvale and Sandy. You can catch the bus from many of the area hotels, the Traxx terminal or several Park and Ride locations. This enables you to stay without the need for a rental car. If you do rent a car you do not need 4X4 capability if you take the Ski Bus up the Cottonwood Canyons.

      Lodging

There are many lodging options from budget motels to resort accommodation. The most convenient areas for the ski resorts are those of Midvale and Sandy, just south of Salt Lake City. These areas are only 30 minutes from the airport and all four resorts. There are plenty of restaurant, shopping and entertainment options in the area. The linked map shows the Ski Bus Route. Scroll down to the bottom left corner of the map to see the hotels serviced by the Ski Bus.

If you haven't made up your mind about joining us for Westfest, here is the best reason and best deal of them all:

Visit Salt Lake has just announced a "January Ski Free in Ski City" deal where you can get up to 2 free Ski City Super Passes for every night you stay in hotels around the city (based on occupancy of 2). Quantities are limited and apparently are selling fast. . .

As an example: Arrive Wednesday, January 24 depart Sunday, January 28 after 4 days of skiing for as low as $231 - lodging and skiing included for 2 people ! ! ! ! !

Even some of the nicer hotels out in Sandy that several of us are staying in are priced around $500 - $600 for two people for 4 nights, and 4 days of skiing!

Great deals - come join us!

                    Change of plans.........

Tracey and I had planned on skiing at Purgatory on our way op to Westfest, but due to a total lack of snow in Southern Colorado, we have decided to drive up Utah earlier in the week. We should arrive on Saturday 20th, and plan to stay in Ogden and ski Powder Mountain on Sunday 21st, Monday 22nd and Tuesday 23rd. That would leave us free to ski Park City on the Wednesday. Of course we still need snow in Utah, but the weather pattern is looking more favorable leading into Westfest. As always, anyone is free to join us.

We get to ski PowMow for free on our Snowbowl benefits, but would need buddy passes for Park City if anyone has any?

I did buy this little bit of heaven off liftopia. I've never use that service before.
How do we get the tickets? Do I need to download something prior to skiing the first day or do I just show up and all my info is at the ticket office ?

you should have been emailed a receipt/confirmation for each resort's ticket purchased that has the printable ticket/receipt, some of them have a barcode on it. Each one of those has specific instructions for getting your ticket form the resort but basically you need to print those out and bring it to the ticket window at each resort to exchange for an RFID Card lift ticket.

Ok thanks , I researched it and only 1 had a barcode , but it's the day 1 (Thur) of them so maybe all 3 will be included?

I just checked - Snowbird's has a barcode, Alta's does not, and neither does Solitude. BUT, they are each their own ticket - you need to bring the confirmation/receipt from Snowbird to Snowbird, from Alta to Alta, from Solitude to Solitude. . .

What Tom said, plus you can bring it up on your phone for them.
