How are the conditions usually on opening day there? Any idea what will be open?

On facebook they said, "expect to open with Skidder, Heisler Way, Upper Tail Tree, Whistlepunk, Whiffletree, Powder Monkey and Progression Park on Friday morning"

Conditions have been good so I expect they will have them open.

Thanks! I'll check the map to see what these trails are. Last time I was there it was early April and I skied mostly Widowmaker...

It's not a lot but it's at least top to bottom with a couple of options.

Looks like a nice selection of green trails with some short blue slopes too. Should be good for a first day to get into the rhythm for the season - it took me several runs to get in the groove on Sunday at Killington for my first day on the snow this season. I don't know if I will have the time to get there this weekend, but if you do get there Friday or Saturday, please let us know how it is.

There is a clip from Skipjack I found (not mine): https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2e1pujjVEAY

And some of the other trails mentioned: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JM9Z4u16j8E

I am definitely going to be treating it as a warm up day since it will be my first day this season. I also only have my Blunt XLs so it could be interesting if its really icy. I will have my GoPro running so I will be able to give a full report next week.

It's a long drive but I am going to leave early Sunday morning and come back that night. I have room in my truck and I am making the trip anyway so there is no expectation of gas money or anything. Let me know if something changes and you want to come.

                Thanks!

I'll PM you (or post here) if I decide to join you. Gas money is not an issue, time is and it depends on what we decide to do with the rest of my family for the weekend - they are not as enthusiastic (maniacal?) about skiing as I tend to be

Hmmm... Skipjack was listed as closed today. Which leaves only some partial green trails and some connector trails. Will keep an eye out tomorrow, but maybe I'll wait for more trails to open.

I do plan to be there with my family and friends for the President's Day weekend.

Saw that too, I'll be going regardless just to get out there. Sounds good!

Tempting, as they are making snow now and overnight, and tomorrow will be below freezing so it won't get mushy... But I will pass tomorrow and go there once a couple more blue trails open. Enjoy and let us know how it was. I think it will be good.

Great day at snowshoe. No wait in the lift line and the conditions were actually really good. It was a little icy in the shade but everything else was pretty soft.

Looks like you had a great time! I was so glad to see some of the east coast resorts open this past weekend after how late most of them had to open last year. I've only ever been there in the summer, but I'm hoping to make it down to Snowshoe sometime this winter!
