1.) Because it is unique, not many people do it and lots of people ask about it. I like to stand out.

2.) I skiboard instead of snowboard because my physical therapist won't allow me to ride that any more. I will be skiing in a few years when I move out west but right now I just have no reason to do so.

3.) I recommend skiboarding to people all the time, and I mean that in the most literal sense of the term.

4.) I get social connections, I can call most of these people friends though I have never met them, and most people I have met, I can't call friends. It is just a community thing.

5.) Skiboarding has completely taken over my life, if I have a class that I have to do something for, it comes after skiboarding.

      1. I love skiboarding because i love being one of the only people on the mountain that do it, and because there are really nice people involved in it like greco. Even Kirk Thompson gave me some advice on skiboarding fakie.

      2. I skiboard instead of skiing or snowbaording because its unique, and because i suck at snowboarding, and i felt that skiing was boring.

      3. I would reccomend skiboarding to people because skiboarding is most likely one of the best things that ever happened to me. lol i sound like i have no life.

      4. Well what i get socially out of skiboarding is basically this. Because of its small community we all can connect on a forum like this. I love that aspect.

      5. Im so obsessed with skiboarding right now that i cant stop thinking about it, and my mom will only have a conversation with me if it doesnt involve skiboarding.

      Good luck on your project!

          1. Why do you guys like to ski board? Because of the FUN Factor!!!! I have more control.
          2. Why would you ski board instead of skiing or snowboarding? More Fun, less hassles, quick to learn, control, did I say more fun?!
          3. Why would you recommend ski boarding to people? More fun easier & wuicker to learn, less hassles.
          4. What social aspect do you think you get out of ski boarding (this is a gay question)? again, the FUN factor and Freedom on the snow!
          5. How you are effected by skiboard? or from skiboarding in your life? My winters are more fun... always eager for winter to come. I have met new people and am part of a cool caring forum.

Got tired of hibernating during the winter. Needed a fun winter activity.

Tried skiing and snowboarding many times over the years. Neither one pulled my trigger for some reason. Skiboarding reminds me of inline skating, which I love. They have the versatility of skis but significantly more maneuverable. No poles. Can carve like a snowboarder but with the ease and convenience of not having both feet strapped to one plank. Skiboarding is a great hybrid between skis and snowboards and for a recreational rider like me, I can see no reason not to have the best of both worlds plus some extra.

Personal testimonial ... most fun I've ever had riding in the snow. As well ... I've found the community of enthusiasts here on this forum to be fantastic.

Not much social specifically related to skiboarding for me yet ... other than here on the forum. Not many other boarders out here and I really do prefer real interactions over the cyber interactions on the net.

It's a new vehicle for challenge and adventure for me. I get bored easily doing the same things over and over again for years. Every few years I find myself taking up a new sport or activity. I'm stoked skiboarding now ... but I may very well tire of it after 5 or 6 years and move on to something else.

              1. Why do you guys like to ski board?

I skiboard because of the unique factor. You get a lot of looks on the mountain, and it's just fun to be able to have the eyes on you for a bit. People approach you, ask you questions, and generally show an interest in what you're doing. This community is tight-knit. If I have a problem, I can ask the manufacturer to help me out. If I need help perfecting a trick, I can ask a pro, and he'll actually talk to me. I used to inline skate too, this is close to that.

              2. Why would you ski board instead of skiing or snowboarding?

This is dumb, but I have an irrational fear of being bound. Merinthophobia is the technical name. I did snowboarding for a year, and if I was strapped in for more than a few minutes, I'd start to hyperventilate. I passed out a few times on the slopes. Not my thing.

              3. Why would you recommend ski boarding to people?

There's nothing like it. The community, the uniqueness, the fun. Skiboarding is by far the best snow sport.

              4. What social aspect do you think you get out of ski boarding (this is a gay question)?

Going back to the community here. We're all pretty chatty, and we have a lot of common interest. It's great to be able to sit around, and talk to other people who enjoy the sport.

Another social aspect would be the amount of people that approach me on the mountain. I get so many people asking me questions, giving me comments, and just strange looks. I'm able to strike up a conversation with anyone on the lifts, get them interested, and if I see them frequently, they'll always recognize me. I've made a few friends on the mountain, we'll ride together, or just have lunch in the lodge.

              5. How you are effected by skiboard? or from skiboarding in your life?

Skiboarding has ruined my ability to have a day off in the winter time. Anytime I'm not at work, I'm on the mountain. I try to get up there as often as possible, because I enjoy it so much.

I also got pneumonia last week, and that's skiboardings fault. :P

                1. Why do you guys like to ski board?
Because its fun. Great control, short tight turns, and endless tricks to learn.

                2. Why would you ski board instead of skiing or snowboarding?
Because its fun! Easy to learn and hard to excell (is that well said?). You dont have to learn all the technique of the ski, the material is more simple (no poles, no complicated types of ski/snowboard, no complicated adjustments...), you dont fall as usually as on snowboard...most of the people ski because it works better everywhere, those who snowboard do it because its cool. I skiboard because its fun.

                3. Why would you recommend ski boarding to people?
Because skiboarding is fun. You will be having lots of fun from the first day. Ski is hard to learn (you need to learn lots of technique before truly skiing). Snowboard is not that hard to learn, but you fall a lot while learning...and that hurts.

Skiboarding is more simple, which allows to leave your attention from the technique and enjoy the snow and the mountain.

                4. What social aspect do you think you get out of ski boarding (this is a gay question)?
I have learnt to respect all the snowsports out there. From telemark to hardboot snowboard, i keep meeting with people on the slopes, and having fun with all of them, without worrying what does each one have under their feet. I also learn a lot about material and technique of each sport.

                5. How you are effected by skiboard? or from skiboarding in your life?
I made some skiboarder friends, as the community is small i got better chances of knowing everyone in a better way!

Also, i can go to my local snowdome by bus! They dont allow skis or snowboards on that bus, but i can bring my skiboards
