  • Trimming risers

Has anyone trimmed the risers that come with the Line FF Pro bindings for more flex?

Wanted to get input before cutting mine.

How much do you want to trim ? When you say risers, you mean the pad (sort of rubber I suppose) under the metallic binding ? What boards are you using ? Not sure how much you can actually trim and what improvement you expect to get, can you add more details ? Probably a picture will also help understand better what you have in mind

The rubber pads. I'm running them on the Summit Ecstatics. I don't have any issues with my boots hitting the snow. I do understand that it's only 7.5 mm.

Suppose it will allow the boards to flex more, the pads are like what, 3-4mm thick ? Wouldn't more flex mean the boards might hit the metal part of the bindings ? This might or not be an issue for your style of riding and terrain (park or not), but something to keep in mind.
If you want to experiment, I would try to come up with a replacement, home-made rubber pad, same thickness and width as the original but cut shorter to your target length, so you'll get a feeling of the final result before doing the irreversible cutting. Could even make only one pad first and compare by going one board mounted with the original pad, one with the DIY shorter version

Have you actually determined that the rubber is preventing flex, rather than the full binding?

You can measure it by hanging a 25kg weight off the centre of the skiboard. CHeck the displacement, then do the same when only the rubber pad is there and when the full binding is on. Given that it is a Summit model, I would be surprised if the FFs affect the flex at all.

Please dont trim anything. There is no prevention from the riser causing a flex issue. those boards have a metal layer underfoot which allow direct mount of release track bindings. the flex is not inhibited by the riser or the binding, the board is designed stiffer underfoot for the mounting option that RVL8 boards do not have (full wood, thinner board).
