  • The Gear Hacking Legends of Skiing

Heh, I was looking for Carl's website and found this article... funny enough, it's pretty Golden-centric (Nicholson and the Blaeberry are the funky rural outskirts of Golden, BC). I've worked on the same site with both Carl and Jair's wife.

As for Carl Labonville's stuff... I may be talking to him at some point about custom carbon fibre boards (assuming I have some cash to burn! His work isn't cheap). I've seen his products and they are LIGHT. It's cool to see that he's got a bit of a reputation. If I'm back at the Horse next winter I'll try to ride with him and get him thinking on skiboard design. Might see if he's interested in doing some CF binding plates for a touring setup in the meantime, now that I've figured out that non-releasable touring bindings are a thing.

That's neat stuff. It sounds like you know Carl personally?

Not well, but we have some mutual acquaintances and have worked on the same construction site. He's an interesting guy, I'd like to talk to him about his gear at some point.
