  • Photobucket now charging for imbedding photos !!

Many of us have used Photobucket.com a free photo hosting service to embed photos on this website . Today photbucket began charging $39.99 dollars a month for users to imbed photos on other web sites ! and have blocked all previously embedded photos from previous posts ! For example all my previous posts that have had photobucket pictures embedded have all those pictures now blocked !! Bummer! Anyone else know of any other free photo hosting sites that allow embedding ?

The fact that Photobucket did not grandfather previously embedded photos is horrible and has made all pictures on old posts on forums such as this unviewable ! here is some more information about other hosting services:

Flickr.com was free to embed the last time I used it for posting pics here. It's a Yahoo property so if you have a Yahoo account then you are already signed up.

I see. That's a bit odd. Maybe it's just a matter of getting all their servers updated with new code, and then everything will be toast.

I got this same notification in an email from Photobucket. It was rudely stated, and made it sound like using their service was some kind of crime. The email didn't state what the cost to pay them would be, but 40 bucks a month is past obscene. No thank you.

What's the consensus for the best service to use from now on? Flickr?

$5 to $10 a month may have been tolerable but $40 is not.

I have started posting directly from Tapatalk. Does anyone know what the risks are with the same happening with Tapatalk or Flickr?

Ever since the forum stoped us directly uploading images, I have used Tapatalk. I use Flickr for storage, but rarely embed the images directly, it's too clumsy. Instead I download the images to my phone and use Tapatalk. Sometimes I even just screen shot the image if quality isn't an issue. Even if Tapatalk or Flickr wanted to charge to embed or store, you an always just upload from your phone for free.

Is Tapatalk something exclusive to i-phone users? I'm a tech-resistant type and still use a conventional cell phone.

In a skills competition with Jethro Bodine, I easily won the spelling contest but Jethro beat me at puddle-jumping, log-tossing and computer proficiency.

In the ciphering test, Jethro's abacus was no match for my trusty Texas Instruments calculator. The vittles-eating competition, though, didn't turn out so good. I just didn't have much of a taste for Granny's 'possum giblet stew. The way Jethro gobbled it down, I imagine he could give Kobayashi a run for his money.
