  • Who needs skiboards? Just ride your boots!

If this video is real it is nutty. Skier blows his bindings and proceeds to sling his skis over one shoulder and carve down the mountain on his bare boots. Check it out:

Either that grade is much steeper than it looks in the video, or that guy is riding sled-dogs (or something similar).

It looks like it's a pretty steep grade and I can see where someone might have boots with a smooth enough bottom to pull that off for a short run. I replaced the sole-kit on my boot bottoms at the start of the season because I have worn them almost smooth and was sliding all over icy parking lots just getting to the lodge. I doubt I have the skill to "ski" those boots but I bet a more skilled rider could pull it off (at least long enough for a quick internet video).

            I'm not convinced it's 100% real.
            Just these, nothing else !

Neither am I but as far as the claim goes that this was out of necessity due to a broken binding it does appear as though the ski that is on top is missing the toe piece that would have been direct mounted to the ski.

Besides in the reality show of a world that we live in today "100% real" does seem to be a requirement any more.

Can't speak to the authenticity of the video, but you can definitely "ride" bare boots. Years ago I saw a local ski team doing race runs and one of them hit a gate wrong, took a tumble and lost both skis a good ways down the slope. The guy got up and side slipped / slarved down on his boots as if he were on big foots. Was pretty impressed.
