It was a beautiful blue sky morning in the Austrian Alps. Snow was in perfect condition, temperature about minus eight. Fresh groom everywhere and fresh soft off piste. I was with a small group of lifelong ski buddies, all skiboarders now, and I just didn't want to be there. I am sure you all know the feeling.
Time was dragging. It's in our nature to be thinking about the next thing rather than what we are doing right now. We try to train ourselves to live in the moment but it doesn't always work that way.
I wanted to stop and move on, but hey, in a group you go with the flow, right?
As the moments ticked by I was growing more and more restless, more impatient. Something had to give. Then suddenly the others all stopped.
It was as if some silent command had passed through everybody. At last!
The last coffee cup was put down, and finally, we were headed down to the boot room, away from the breakfast table and out onto my beloved slopes.
Longest 30 mins of my life was finally over
