Why is that so hard to admit? I WISH I got to see MJ. All of the accusations and media circus aside the man was a great performer, great writer, and did more with charities than anyone else who has ever lived. His music? Come one now. Thriller, Bad, Man In The Mirror, Black or White; The list can go on and on. Hit after hit after hit that wasn't just some radio friendly crap. On top of the music I had to have spent millions on the stage show for each concert. If we can count TV as a live performance, then I would absolutely put him in my top five.

Bodeans! I love the Bodeans - have a bunch of their music and was listening to some of it my last time on the mountain. Never saw them live but definitely a great band.

I have the same sentiment. My girlfriend dragged me to see him at Hochenheim Race Track in Germany in 88. I begrudgingly enjoyed him, but still couldn't put him on the list. Guilty pleasure.
            Just these, nothing else !

They are getting a little old and maybe a little tired now ... but they were one of the best high energy pub bands I've ever seen ... multiple times at smaller venues and only once with a really large audience. Unlike so many recording artists lately, they actually can sing and sound incredible live ... even in venues with horrible acoustics.

To be honest, I was never really too much of a fan of his music growing up and got drug to the show by a relative unwillingly. I have more appreciation for him as an artist now, but being more a fan of edgier rock, roots rock, grunge, post-grunge, punk... a part of me still hates admitting that was by far the best musical performance I'd ever seen and that most of the grunge and post-grunge bands I've seen live sounded horrible.

I had to revive this thread ... simply because I just picked up a collaborative album between Knopfler and Emmylou Harris ... "All The Roadrunning".

                    Wow.

                    Just wow.

Two masters of song craft on a crazy good album. I'm sure it could come across as a little slow and sleepy for many ... but...
