  • Howdy folks, let me know if you need my help!

Hi guys! I know it's been a while since I've been on here, by design really. After my skiboard trip in February, I get sad knowing that I live in Florida and have NO easy snow access. But, after seeing G's post today about the new board line up, I had to come back and say HELLO!!!

It's been a busy summer for me. After returning from our trip, my husband and I decided to do P90X, and after doing that, I got hooked. I moved onto doing Insanity, LOVED that program, and made the leap and decided to become a Beachbody coach. I now help others reach their health and fitness goals by keeping them motivated on the path that they choose. If anyone would like any assistance, I am here to help. Thanks to Beachbody my coaching services are free and there is no obligation to purchase anything. If you are interested in any Beachbody program (P90X, Insanity, Turbo Fire, etc...) please let me know. I can also send you information on Shakeology, which is a product that truly changed my life.

If you're on Facebook, I'd appreciate the "likes" to my page. http://www.facebook.com/CoachHeidiG

And if you need any help, don't hesitate to message me here or email me at CoachHeidiG@beachbodycoach.com

You can also find more information on my other websites:
    www.GetFitnessFast.com
    www.FastFitShake.com

I hope everyone is have a great summer! I can't wait to strap back onto my boards and start shredding!

Yes, the plyo is a killer! It became one of my favorites, but I honestly liked all of the workouts. The differences in my own body upon completion were pretty awesome. The leg day is pretty tough too, those wall sits aren't my favorite!

Keep up the good work. Let me know if you have any questions about it, I'd be happy to help!

Do your shakes have B3 (Niacin) or caffeine in them?

No caffeine in any of the Shakeology flavors. There is 5mg (25% DV) of niacin for sure in the regular (non-vegan) flavors which are chocolate and greenberry. From what I can pull up on my website about the 2 vegan flavors (tropical strawberry and chocolate) I can't say for sure what those niacin levels are. I would venture to say that "yes" they have similar levels. The difference between the regular flavors and the vegan ones is the protein source. The regular flavors use a whey protein source, while the vegan flavors use a sprouted brown rice protein and pea protein source. As soon as I get home, I will look at the packets of Vegan Tropical Strawberry I have to see what's listed.

The complete list of ingredients are on the bottom of the home page as pdf files. www.FastFitShake.com

I'm pretty sensitive to "niacin flush" and I don't get that at all with Shakeology. I sell samples if you are interested in trying some. I will ship them to you at no extra cost. PM me or email me at CoachHeidiG@beachbodycoach.com for more info. You can also click on the "Contact Me" button from my Shakeology site and I'll be in touch.

I have to say, I've always had my doubts, well, concerns is a better word about the high intensity programs. I'm no stranger to trying to stay in reasonable condition. I played organized sports as a younger man, spent 13 years as a professional firefighter, I enjoy being an amateur boxer, hiking and of course being a side/back country skiboarder. The folks I see who enter the high intensity programs always seem to eventually move on to something more manageable. Something that doesn't make such difficult demands of them. There are always the few exceptions of course such as body builders but most people seem to run through a few phases and then move on to something that also allows them to have a real life that includes things beyond fitness/appearance goals, allows them to enjoy things like real food without guilt, maybe the occasional adult beverage and a generally less restrictive/demanding way of living.

I agree, I think balance is key. I've read convincing articles that say consistent high cardio workouts aren't that beneficial and can actually be detrimental because of increases in the stress hormone cortisol, increases in systemic inflammation, increases in oxidative damage (free radical production), and because it typically means you're eating more carbs (sugar) to sustain you through the workouts. All things that will give your immune system a beating. This also doesn't take into account the fact that for most people, spending lots of time exercising will detach you from other aspects of your life and lead to you feeling socially detached.

I've seen multiple friends and even close family go full on into a high intensity program but haven't really thought about anything but losing fat around the waist instead of just being healthy. Then, after a week or so (maybe some last a couple months even) of that they'll just give up after they haven't seen good/fast enough results. I think lots of trainers lose touch with reality and like most people want to get results as fast as possible and end up pushing people too hard. No one seems to go into a program with the slow and steady approach and I think that's why people end up failing.

I've read lots of good things about interval training with short bursts of cardio but I still say having exercise routines is not a sustainable practice for most people. I think it's definitely the way to go if you are out of shape and overweight. You need a routine and stability to stay on track in those situations but I think it's important to know that upon reaching your goals you have to figure out how to live balanced. I think the best way of doing that is finding physical activities where you can still have fun and enjoy yourself. If running on a treadmill or jogging in general is fun for you more power to you but I'd rather be playing softball or flag football, hiking, mtn biking or whatever sport (almost forgot skiboarding) where I can get my exercise and thoroughly enjoy it and maybe even get some good social interaction in at the same time.

                      My opinion:

The number one problem with American health is not exercise as much as it is dietary intake.

I also don't feel high-intensity programs take people away from reality and socially detach them from society. But, they do require discipline and an adjustment of life-style. Any major life change requires that. I truly don't believe exercise is enough. You can do all of the sports you want and be active, but if you eat bad food your insides are still going to be messed up.

Wow, lots of action on my thread over the weekend. I suppose I should clarify because it appears as though something got lost in translation.

My "job" as a Beachbody coach is to keep people motivated on the path that THEY choose. If they're looking for something specific, I'll point them in a direction, the choice is theirs. I agree that NO fitness program should ever be treated as a "fad" or a "get slim quick" thing. I do not promote constant "extreme" programs like INSANITY. Yes, I've done the program, and Yes, I loved it. It's not something I could do over and over again, that would be counter-productive. Fitness is about balance, in what you do to stay active as well as what you put in your mouth. I maintain the stance that you should treat it as an 80/20 split. 80% clean eating, 20% exercise. You can't out exercise a bad diet and you can't just eat well and expect to be in tip top shape.

I have a great balance in what I do. I stay active and I eat as clean as I can, most of the time. Yes I take days off from exercise and I do enjoy the occasional beer and chocolate chip cookie. The point is not to make those indulgences the staple in my life. They're treats.

Being a fit person to begin with, I don't consider P90X an "extreme" program. It's a whole body, strength training program. Frankly, I found it a tad easy, but you're in control, so you can make it as easy/hard as you choose. The biggest problem most people have is sticking to a exercise regime. INSANITY is definitely extreme, and it's not a program I suggest to most people who ask about it. I tend to steer them to another that they can handle and are more likely to finish. I consider my cardio ability quite strong, but INSANITY took me down a few notches.

To be fitter and healthier, it's about changing your entire lifestyle. If you're happy where you're at, more power to you. If you want to see/feel a change in your body, it requires actual change. Change can be hard, but if it's something you truly want, you'll do it. I do my darnedest to keep people motivated in reaching the goals THEY set, not ones I set for them. What accomplishment could one feel if they're not doing it for themselves?

So I apologize if my initial post was misinterpreted. I was just offering people help if they chose to seek it. Being living proof of what change within myself could bring, I enjoy sharing what I know with others. I'm a coach to people who have never spent a dime through my websites, and I will continue to be their coach. Yes, this is a business for me, but it's more than trying to sell something to someone. It doesn't do me any good to sell 1 order of P90X to someone if they don't finish it. It's about "paying it forward". If I put good out into the world, the world will bring good back to me.

                            Hey Shortydude,
Have you had any luck finding a multivitamin without niacin? Did you have a chance to check out Vita-Vim or you sensitive to niacinamide too?

That's great to hear, it sounds like you're truly invested and behind what you do and that's refreshing to see. Dave and yourself brought up great points that I somehow managed to not touch on at all in my previous post. I completely agree that diet it is much more important than exercise. I think that's the best place to start if you're on a quest to better health. Not to say exercise isn't important but if you're starting out from an unhealthy place I think it's best to focus on your diet first.
