  • Climbing Closed Ski Area May 1st

88 degrees at home in the valley on May 1st , time for a trip up to a closed ski area for some climbing and turns,
Sometimes you see things at a ski area that you never see in the backcountry ? Pyramids for yetis?DSCN0304_zps0gptxt11 by Jack Jue Jr, on Flickr

Billy is on Hagan 130s with telemark bindings ...

I am on Rockered Condors with SBOL modified snowboard bindings, we are both using climbing skins
I am just using the toe strap over my toe so I can have a free heel , the other two straps are locked behind me for the climb ,
I am using plastic sewer caps for heel elevators ! Really great set up for the climb !

Easy to climb steep slopes with these set ups , Here I am on my Rockered Condors heading up a steep slope ...

Nice soft sun baked slopes are the reward for the climb! This is on the way out at the end of the day on the milder slopes . nice snow in the trees and down the steeper slopes earlier
Here I am on the Rockered Condors

Here is Billy on his Hagans

Another reward for the climb is finding an excellent place for a rest, some rehydration and lunch !

          12" at Donner Pass

Hey, Jack. Was the recent snowfall enough to get you guys back out one more time? You can tell me the truth. I can take it. I've been getting help with my skiboard jealousy issues.
