  • Wuttup everyone- New to Skiboarding up in Seattle.

    Hey SBOL,

I just registered and just wanted to say hey to the Skibaording community. It's nice to find a niche forum like this that's got active users and people posting daily- I was worried there'd be so few riders out there that I'd have to start my own forum.

So I've been skiing my whole life- but tried snowboarding out last season- I sucked. And I was in more pain from falling than the "cool" factor of snowboarding was worth. Then- thank the gods- I saw a skiboarder fly past me carving at this extreme angle- one hand dragging through the snow. Forget snowboarding!

So- I wanted to try it out first- so I actually found a pair of ancient Dynastar Twins- love the things! I'm looking for a set of all mountian boards- maybe Revel8's- I go up with skiers and snowboarders, so it'd be nice to have something longer than my Dynastar 85cm's for when I go up with my skiing peoples as backcountry on 85cm ain't so great.

I'm out in Seattle and I hit up the mountain 2-4 times a week- so if anyone's in the area- we should get together and maybe you could show me a thing or two about this sport.

Anyways- Happy to be here- hope to hear from y'all soon.

    -Manlig

Post up your height / weight and what type of riding you mostly want to do and people will offer up suggestions. R8's are a good choice for sure

        Hey bro,

I'm in Seattle. I have a pass and ride Snoqualmie. I'm also 27. I can show you some things if you like. PM me sometime and we can figure out a time to go at the start of next year. I fly out this week for vacation.

          Welcome.

RGZIP here on the forum is up in your area. He rides White Pass frequently. Went up and rode with him once last year. Will probably try to get up there once this year as well.

Also gonna try to plan a trip to Spokane to ride a day with Emptimind. Don't think I'll actually make it up closer to Seattle though. Not this year anyway.

              Welcome Manlig.
I'm in Olympia and mostly go to whitepass and once in a while Crystal, but snoquamie isn't that far so I may get there once or twice. Hopefully we'll have a change to ride together, I have several boards you're welcome to try.

Robert, let me know if you go to spokane. I have been thinking of taking a road trip to Silver mountain which is fairly close to spokane.

Headed to whitepass in the am to take the grandkids out for their first day of the season. I think I'm going to ride the 99's lacroixs.

              take care

                Great night at snoqualmie...until...

EDIT: Snoqualmie sevices found my skiboards tossed aside in the parking lot. Looks like I'm one lucky guy!

Would still like your input and suggestions for some new skiboards though- I fully plan on upgrading to something of higher quality.

                Craziness!

Went to the mountain and had a few warm up runs- made my way over to the main quad- and the guy who gets on the lift with me is wearing these crazy Wide Skiboards!

Turns out it was Millet- what are the chances?
He was riding some Fatty Condors too.

And of course... What are the chances my Skiboards walk off the mountain without me while I'm visiting the urinal.... yeah... no fun.

Was planning on going back up tomorrow- but I'm boardless and pissed off!

Anyways, if anyone's got a set they'd be willing to sell... I'd be interested- you'd make my Christmas a whole lot better.

As for suggestions: "In the "screwed by stupid theives" corner: Weighing in at 185 pounds- the 6 foot tall filipino SKiboarding Noob Maaaaanliiiig"

Yeah, maybe something a bit longer- Millet's boards looked pretty sweet-

I'm looking for something that'll be good for carving maily on groomers- do ok in powder (we don't get too much fluff out here) And as the season progresses- I'm sure I'll find my way into the park for the first time. That'll be an experience.

Anyways- I'm looking up posts about locking your skiboards now...

PM me if you've got a set of boards you wouldn't mind parting with.

                Thanks-

                Manlig

                  hey Manlig,
sorry to hear about your boards being tossed. i use to ride there too in snoqualmie, also crystal, and stevens. i started with the snowjam 90 then got the spruce 120 while i was there. like you i was a noob filipino skiboarder in that area(i think i was the only skiboarder back in that area then 07-08) but i never had my boards messed with before, though i got those weird looks from everyone. anyways, hope you get some good boards from someone on this forum. i'm 5'10 196 and the spruce 120 fits me well back then. hey have you gone down that one black run on the left and right of the main chairlift on summit central? thats a cool run and if you feel ballzy, go to Alphental, now thats a mountain to ride but i guess the one i like the most is Crystal, though tickets are expensive, being in the military then helps. anyways i do hope you get a good skiboard and shred! have fun

                    Thanks T21!

I've done those runs at snoqualmie on skis but not skiboards.

Never had a chance on Alpental- it's not open at night- and I go out to the mountain after work- so nights it is.

It's cool knowing I'm not the only Pinoy on skiboards! You said the Spruce 120's worked well eh? How were they with that length? Were they heavy or bulky?

I'm really loving the manouverability of these things and I'd hate to lose out on that with longer boards.

                    -Manlig

ps- on a side note- the Pacquiao vs Mayweather Jr fight got cancelled- lame.

the maneuverability of the 120 is as close to your 85's. i could turn it like i do with my 90's. i just like the more stability and speed the 120 gives me and the float i get if i hit some pow. they are a bit heavier with the riser but you wont notice it unless your so tired from skiboarding all day and one thing too, sometimes you'd smack your boards because its wider and longer.but you'd skied before so the lenght should not bother you much. i got some damaged on mine doing some turns on mogul runs. but other than that its a good board.

too bad they cancelled the fight. they are probably trying to get more money on it cuz it will definitely be worth watching.
