  • Recommendations for short skis

Hey there - looking for opinions on the Elan Pinball Pro 145cm twin rocker skis - anyone used em and have some opinions on how they handled on piste and of piste? Also - open to hear ay opinions of a good short ski in the 140-145cm length, with a twin rocker and 80mm-90mm in width or so -- thanks!

There are a lot of favorable reviews here of the Ethan Too's. I have them in 141s and while I haven't spent much time on them they are fun, nimble and smooth on piste.

I own pair of Firefly Prospect skis in 156cm length (they’re the same ski as the Elan Slingshot sold under a different brand name) and I have ridden the Elan Pinballs. Both are fun. The Pinballs seem to have a little more camber underfoot and more pronouced rocker than the Slingshots/Prospects making them ride smaller. They are fine on piste and give you a lot of landing gear for jumps, rails, etc.. I have not ridden either in any significant powder but have had them in the trees a bit. Both have a long turn radius compared to skiboards and I felt like I was having to force them to turn rather than carving with the edges.

You might want to look at the Head Caddy or Head Jr Caddy. They are a fun little ski and have a tighter turn radius than the Pinballs. Spruce Mountain Skiboard (Jeff Springer) has adapted the Jr version for adult riders. They are all my wife skis anymore. They give her plenty of support but still feel like skiboards.
