  • Backcountry on the Spruce Crossbows -Video

Great opportunity today to test my new Spruce Crossbows in the Tahoe Backcountry .
Last snow storm was a week ago but we had undisturbed powder snow . My buddy Billy is on Hagan 130's . He is the guy skiing at the end of the video in the red jacket , otherwise it is me on the Crossbows.
The Crossbows were fabulous in the backcountry snow ! Nimble , ride right off the tails smoothly ... I was using Jeff Singer's version 1 tray riser with a Fritschi binding on the set back riser inserts...

    Boards :
Blunt Xl, DLP, Spliff, Condor, Rockered Condor , Slingshot, Sherpa, Icelantic Shaman
    Boots
K2 BFC 100 Grip walk sole , Dynafit CR Radical AT boot, Ride Insano Snowboard boots
    Bindings:
    Zero Pro Non release Binding
Modified Receptor Backcountry Bindings (Bill Version and Slow Version)
Spruce Riser with Attack 14 GW /AT binding
Custom Risers with Fritschi Backcountry Bindings (Jeff Singer version 1, Bill version)
Rocker and Sbol Soft Boot Bindings.

Yes , a big surprise ,Valmorel , just looking at the specs , I wouldn't have thought I would have liked them as much as I do .
A particular surprise is the performance in off piste and pow , pretty amazing .. If you look at the frame shot picture above with me with set back bindings, .. the boards , smoothly accelerate in deep snow without any need to sit back on the tails and yet the tips are planing up above the snow , and in a compact 115 board that is also a delight in firm snow center mount . Fabulous !
