    Jack,
How does the Full Tilt booter compare with your Scarpa's for backcountry/resort use?

Hi Fast, I have Scarpa Lasers AT Boots that I amputated the high back to make them hike better, they have a standard liner , My Full tilts are full tilt booters that have a nice lightweight custom foam liner .
both boots work great for both resort and backcountry with skiboards... the Full Tilts have better downhill performance and are lighter , they have better support for going down then the Lasers ... the Scarpa's hike better primarily because they have a vibram sole where as the Full tilts just have the slippery regular downhill ski sole.
I have used the Full Tilt's extensively in the backcountry and they are great as long as you are climbing On your skiboards ie with skins ... if you are hiking dry ground or mixed ground in boots carrying your skiboard on your back then an AT boot like the Scarpas with a vibram sole is much better....

      More on AT Boots

AT boots like the Scarpa AT boots are wider in the toe box then regular downhill ski boots and have issues with fitting in skiboard bindings ...
I have found that they do not work real well in the narrower Bomber elite II bindings , although they do seem do work ok in the Zeros , and Receptor bindings ...
However the AT boots DO NOT FIT the BTK (Backcountry touring kit binding ) available on the SBOL forum
AT boots do not work with the Spruce riser/release binding set ups but they do work with Fritschi bindings ...
Full tilts , like other regular downhill boots work with all skiboard bindings, work with the BTK , work with the Spruce release/riser set up and work with Fritschi bindings so they are the most versatile in terms of working will all binding set ups ... they are also significantly cheaper then AT boots .. IMHO the only disadvantage of the Full tilts is the lack of a vibram sole for hiking on dirt or rock ...

        Thanks Jack,
Looks like I'll be going with the full tilts for now... Thing is, with the lack of snow we get here in Scotland sometimes, every now and then your gonna have to walk along grass for a wee while after finishing a run, which would of course work better with AT boots. But it's not like I've got much of an option. Anyways thanks for the info, and btw, is the BTK purchasable?

I think with what you are doing you will be fine with hiking a bit in the Full Tilts . I did this last season and not a big issue ... these boot sole protectors are nice and really helped if you have to hike in your Full tilts .. http://www.yaktrax.com/skitrax

the BTK is available through a volunteer on snow testing program ... which will be available again this season ... information is here

Thank you again, Jack, I will definately be looking into those skitrax thingys, and I might come back to you about the BTK this season, if I can get all the other gear sorted and still have some cash left, but if not, it'll have to wait another year.

Nice pick up. ive got the high-fives this year. need to get them heat molded yet (shop-task was getting the stuff to do that days after I bought them) and pick up my flexier tongue.

I'll have the flex of the booter, wirh the nicer liner of the high-five.
