  • BWP - Mainly a park board?

I'm starting to look for a second set of boards (my current and first pair being 103cm MaryJanes).

After hearing that Revolts might be too heavy for a lightweight like me (130lbs, 5'8), I'm starting to consider BWPs. However, reading about them it seems to me they were mostly designed for the park--high tips, high flex.

I'm not a park rider at all, so I'm curious how they'd handle on the mountain. Greens, blues, diamonds. How would they perform compared to my MaryJanes? Slower? Bumpier? Too small a turn radius?

I've seen the numbers and read skiboardreview, but I want to hear some first-hand experience, I guess. I just don't want to be buying a "park board" when that's not really what I intend to do with it!

Why are you looking for new boards? I mean what do you think you are lacking from your current setup?

It's not that anything is lacking. I like variety, I guess. Just like I have 3 cameras, and each camera serves a different purpose, depending on what I'm doing with it, maybe it's the same with skiboards.

That being said, I guess I also would like to just try out more boards in the Revel8 lineup. And with the BWP, I'd be wondering what it would be better/worse at than what I currently have!

Ha. Money's burning a hole in your pocket?

I would say BWP's are very park-centric, but that doesn't mean they're one of the better all-mountain boards. Ultimately this is a decision you'll have to make. Keep in mind that the Rumspringas are the thinnest R8's. What kind of terrain do you usually ride? Have you considered the KTP's?

I think the KTPs would be a pretty drastic change from the Rumspringas. They're way wider and super stiff. I've ridden boards similar in specs to the BWPs and I liked them for all around riding in and out of the park.

It's good to try out different boards. Sometimes you'll find that you feel more comfortable on a certain set, and will be able to expand your riding skills because of it.

My wife rides BWPs and is definitely not a park rider, although she's tried a couple boxes which I was impressed by. She started out on some Line Jedis and it took her maybe 4-5 runs to get a hang of the increased width but once she learned to get them on edge she loved them. She actually doesn't even want to try other boards now she's so happy on the BWPs. I think they'd be a good choice for you, they're much more of a true skiboard in my opinion and would definitely be a good board to add to your collection.

bri, I feel like a broken record for repeating this again and again, but why not pick up a pair of 120's? I've ridden a big variety (rumspringas, 105's, assorted 110's, KTP's, Condors, old lines, etc.) and keep going back to the 120's. I've put rank tyros on them and had them get along great from the first turn and they're still the first choice of a high master like Valmorel. They are by far the most effort-free ride I have found and I keep going back to them, over and over.

Having said all that, pinkkid is not a park rider either and the BWP's have always been her favorite. Everyone is different and the only way to know for sure is to try.

I believe Slow's wife was also riding BWPs last season when we met up with them. She did well on them and cruised along just fine.
