  • Fastest Skiboarder of 2015/2016 Challenge

    Fasted Skiboarder Challenge 3.0

FINAL RESULTS FOR 2015/2016 -- Hoping for a better East Coast Winter next year

Returning for its third season season is the challenge for those of us who like to push it to the limit --- Just how fast can you go and live to tell the tale? Post your results in this thread and make the leaderboard.

    Rules:
    • Two main divisions: Forwards & Backwards -- no separate divisions for gender, age, location, etc.
    • Bonus division: Fastest on the "New Board" -- This year how fast can you push the Spliffs? Speeds can be entered in both main and bonus divisions.
    • Speed claim must be supported with speed data from Skitracks or similar. Please post screen shot or data output in this thread
    • Speed claim should include: Speed converted to MPH and provide board model and location
    • Speed cannot be mechanically assisted (towed with snowmobile or left Skitracks on and got on the highway ... it's the honor system.)
    • Contest starts 11/1/15 and ends 3/27/16 (if you are riding later in the season that is its own reward).
    • Southern Hemisphere riders may post speeds from the 2015 Southern Winter
    • Riding any "shorty" (generally under 130cm) gets you in the contest. So whatever you call them skiboards, snowblades, miniskis, etc., ..... it's all good!
    • There will be NO separate senior, pro rider, etc. divisions, so don't ask (you know who you are). All skiboarders are equal in the eyes of the CISR (Comité International de Skiboard Rapide), some are just faster/crazier than others.
    • All disputes will be settled by the Commissioner of the CISR (Comité International de Skiboard Rapide) .... AKA the Wookie.

    Prizes:
Simply put -- BRAGGING RIGHTS -- The fastest forward and backward skiboarders win the right to claim "Fastest Skiboarder on Earth" in their SBOL signature block until next season.

Let the fun begin! Well in my case the fun might take a couple months since weather is still in the 70's!

If you guys want to set some fast times, I highly recommend the 2002 Olympic Downhill runs at Snowbasin in Utah, Wildflower and Grizzly. They are steep , groomed and fast. We will be there for Westfest and I think Macrophotog has a Utah trip planned this season as well? I can't think of a faster inbounds runs. 70 MPH????

        Just these, nothing else !

Did you use Ski Tracks with the Spliff proto-types the other day?

It's killing me. Outside raking leaves in shorts and a tshirt today. No sign of winter other than the falling leaves.

New rules from the CISR the speeds on "prototype" devices posted by any rider who's handle rhymes with "Empai" have been banned this season.

Steep is not necessarily the secret to speed but I don't want to reveal Macrophotog's keys to success. Only riders at Elk Jam get to know those inside tips.

Nope. Since it was my first time on the Spliffs and at Mammoth, I didn't know what to expect from both. The last run I went down was skied off and icy. I was going at a pretty good clip but still scrubbing speed with my turns. I could just tell that the Spliffs will be screamers if you let them rip.

The biggest obstacles that I find in going fast are the other people on the run. If I had a run like this or the run I like at Solitude (you know the one) all to myself, I think I could get over 70 mph. As soon as I see someone in front of me I panic and scrub speed.

I want to request a new category just to see how it goes. How about ditching a skiboard for a run and seeing whos fastest on 1 skiboard? might be something to do while you're out on the slopes haha

                    Ive been practicing

At the risk of "setting the bar" too high for myself, I have every intention of at least DOUBLING my speed from last season! Well, see...

Spruce 120's (they served me well)

And yet you won't have the category for "Over Fifty Wearing A Cape In Desert Slush on Jades"?

If you want to file a formal protest with the Comité International de Skiboard Rapide I will bring it up at our next board meeting but they have a long considered capes performance enhancing devices so your chances of getting a variance are slim.
