  • DMOZ ODP - listing sites you know

I guess the best way to put it is to copy and modify the letter I send out when I add a site:

Just what is DMOZ ODP and why is it important to you? The Open Directory Project is the largest, most comprehensive human-edited directory of the Web. It is constructed and maintained by a vast, global community of volunteer editors. The ODP powers core directory services for some the most popular portals and search engines on the Web, including AOL Search, Netscape Search, Google, Lycos, DirectHit, and HotBot, and hundreds of others. For more information on DMOZ, please visit: http://dmoz.org/about.html.

So... Why am I saying anything? Well, I fought to get skiboarding a spot in DMOZ and now, they gave it to me (aside from the fact that I don't like how they call it a sub-culture of snowboarding). I realize that it should be in its own category equal to skiing and snowboarding but I'm not the one who put it there and yes I am trying to get it moved. If it had to be a sub of anything, I could see it under skiing but I'm trying to get it in its own category.

Now comes where I need the help of others. On the main page of listings, there's an option to "Submit URL." If you know of any personal sites, professional sites, etc. dedicated to skiboarding, please feel free to submit them. I am also the editor for inline skating personal pages and between the two of them, along with running my site and helping on a dozen or so others, my time on the internet is kept pretty busy. Considering I'm trying to make something out of the category, I'm more likely to work on finalizing skiboarding submissions before doing my other activities.

    Any help appreciated.

    Thank you

been there, done that, pulled them all. I even went through the member list here looking for sites.

And as an update, it is only a matter of time. The DMOZ forums are down right now; but, I was told that I had to post on the forums and get the approval of at least four other meta's (people superior to me) for the move at which time relocating skiboarding to the same level as skiing and snowboarding will be done. Woohoo! Progress - slowly but surely.
